Set Design: Initial Lighting Choices

For our first element, we're not going to incorporate any set as such, instead we want to use lighting. We want to have large backlights behind the artist that will grow and fade intensity as the song progresses. In moments where the beat of the song changes, we wanted to do something visually intriguing to highlight the change. Using this lighting arrangement would allow us to do so. However, the first time this happens is about a minute into the song so before this happens we need to be able to see the artist. We also needed to think about how we'd see her in moments where the backlights fade in intensity. To solve this issue we're considering using spotlights. Ideally these would be red in order to fit in with our colour scheme.

This lighting arrangement would also amplify the commercial dancers, enhancing the build in song visually. The silhouettes created would create a dynamic between them and the artist.

For the second element we want to use back lighting to enhance the physical images created by the dancers. Again, we would intend on creating silhouettes to focus more on the shapes the dancers create rather than the choreography itself.

For the third element, we were thinking about using far more colourful lighting with movers to create a more modern atmosphere as well as a sense of what the artist's live performances would be like.
