Clarifying Our Genre

As we begin looking further into the typical symbolic conventions for our campaign, it was important for us to make a final decision as to what genre we were complying to with our artist. For a while we were considering pop however we wanted to explore a more personal depth. Media theorist, Richard Negus, believes that an artist can be organic, synthetic or both. Although we cannot stray far from the pop genre due to the song we chose, we wanted to create an artist that is not entirely synthetic, a trait common within  pop artists.

So we looked into sub genres such as alternative pop and subcultured pop but decided in the end that we would be looking to create an 'Indie Pop' artist allowing us to explore a more personalised artists.
