Casting: How Many Performers We Need

After discussing it with the group, we decided that overall we will need between 5 and 7 performers in our video. One would be the performer who we use as our artist, there would be two commercial jazz dancers whom we would use in both element 1 and 3 and then for element 2, we would either have four other dancers or use the same dancers from element 1 and 3 and have two other dancers joining them.

The reason as to why there would be more dancers in element 2 than in 1 or 3 is because the dance style (close contact contemporary), would already involve them being fairly contained so by having more of them, there will be more to experiment with. Also, in terms of practicality, element 1 involves all the backlights that will only stretch so far so the space in which they can dance would already be limited so more than two would really over complicate things. When it comes to going on location in element 3, having too many dancers would be an unnecessary hassle and we would have to prioritise the equipment and relevant staff to assist us rather than taking more dancers than we need.
